He served at Valley Forge. And for my ancestor Jesse Read, a 2nd Lieutenant in the 5th North Carolina Regiment. He served in the Fifth Regiment until June 1778, receiving his 1st Lieutenants's commission October 1771, Where he was transferred to the 2nd North Carolina Regiment.
